Sergey Bobrov is Artistic Director of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honored Artist of Russia, winner of the prize "Spirit of Dance" in the nomination "Knight of the ballet".
Sergey was born in Moscow. After graduating in 1981 from the Moscow Choreographic School, he was invited to the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theater as the ballet soloist where he performed the principal and soloist roles in classical and contemporary productions.
In 1992 he graduated from the choreographer faculty of Moscow State Academy of Choreography under the guidance of the People's Artist of the USSR, Academician Yury Grigorovich and began to work as an independent choreographer. In order to stage the ballet "Antigone", Sergey rented out his apartment in the center of Moscow, moved to the outskirts, use the money to hire the artists and put this performance. In Moscow the ballet was performed just once, and then it went on tour to Madrid. The premiere of "Antigone" in Spain was overwhelming!
In Russia, Sergey was able to realize his first demanded project in the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet. Cooperation of Sergey with the Krasnoyarsk theater began in 1999 with the production of the ballet "King - fish" on the novel and with the active participation of V. Astafijev. The performance was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the writer and became a cultural event in the Krasnoyarsk Region and Russia.
Moving in Krasnoyarsk, Sergey headed the ballet troupe of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet, and in 2007 became the artistic director of the theater.
As a choreographer in Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Sergey put 16 diverse ballets, among them : "Antigone", "Nutcracker", "Swan Lake", "La Bayadere", "Don Quixote", "Cinderella", avant-garde "Sacred spring", opera -ballet "Carmen", "Elektra", etc.
Each of his performance becomes a notable event in the cultural life not only of the Krasnoyarsk Region, but of Russia and the world. His ballet "Romeo and Juliet" was recognized as the best performance of the season in 2007 in the UK. And about the ballet "Hussar Ballad" the French magazine «DANCE» wrote the following: "...Bobrov created a new genre «balletlegrandspectacle».
In 2012, Sergey sang in the premiere performance the part of Severyan in Yu. Grigorovich's "Stone Flower".
SergeY is the inspirer of the unique international opera project "Parade of stars in the opera", an organizer and artistic director of the all the Russian Ballet Forums "Ballet of the XXI century", dedicated to the legends of Russian ballet - Galina Ulanova (2010) and Yury Grigorovich (2012).
As an opera director Sergey first tried to stage the operas by M.Mussorgsky "Khovanshchina" and "Boris Godunov" in the author's project "The Tsar's bed". Then there was the "Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky. It was recognized as the best opera performance in recent years and was differed with its “fresh point of view and innovations”.
