Denis Matsuev finished the Olympic torch relay in Irkutsk

The next stage of the national Olympic Torch Relay came to an end in Irkutsk. On Sunday the symbol of the Olympics "Sochi - 2014" marched through the main streets and sights of the capital of the Irkutsk region.
The delegation of the torch relay of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014 also visited Irkutsk Aviation Plant "Irkut" and Ivano-Matreninskaya children's hospital.
Six torchbearers ran through the aviation plant with the flame of the Games.
Then the delegation of the relay visited the Ivano-Matreninskaya Children's Hospital of Irkutsk. The keepers of the fire showed little patients the lamps with the Olympic flame.
One of the 227 torchbearers in Irkutsk became the head of the combined newsroom of RIA Novosti Oleg Osipov.
"I am very proud that I became a member of this historic event for our country. I was fortunate to work during three Olympic Games - in Turin, Beijing and Vancouver, but for me today is a special day. I was among the participants of the Olympic Movement and I am very pleased. I really hope that our athletes with their performance at the Games in Sochi will continue to give positive emotions to the country as it is done now by the Olympic Torch Relay",- said Osipov.
Oleg noted that he was particularly pleased to run the stage in Irkutsk. " I have the fondest memories about Irkutsk. It is really a beautiful city with a rich history", - said the head of the combined newsroom.
Russian pianist Denis Matsuev was the last torchbearer of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014 during stage in Irkutsk. When Matsuev finished on the main stage of the city, located at Kirov Square, he lit the cauldron together with the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Sergey Erotschenko.
Let’s remember that in the Irkutsk Region the fire has been staying from Saturday: on the 23rd of November the relay was held in the Irkutsk architectural and ethnographic museum "Taltsy" and Listvyanka village, where a historic dive to the bottom of Lake Baikal has happened.
The Olympic flame will be welcomed by the Krasnoyarsk Region.
