It was finished by the bronze medalist of the Paralympic Games in London Larisa Volik who at the Theater Square in the presence of several thousand residents and guests of the capital of Kuban together with the Mayor of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov lit the Paralympic cauldron.

A track and field athlete Alexey Ashapatov was a flag-bearer of the Russian team at the opening of two Paralympic Games - in Beijing and London. In 2013, Alexey Ashapatov became one of the first torchbearers of the Olympic torch relay in Moscow.
